Getting to Know Your Relationship Building Themes
(Get Your Guide Today)

By, Curtis Isozaki, M.A., CF-LSP

How do you build and nurture strong relationships? Relationship Building themes hold a team together. Without them, a group is often just a collection of individuals. With them, it becomes greater than the sum of its parts.

The Nine Relationship Building Themes: Read each definition to Name it. Highlight the words or phrases that stand out to you to Claim it. Then answer the question for the strengths you lead with in your daily life to AIM it.

  • Adaptability®: Lives in the present and stays genuinely at peace with change. Where can your calm in the chaos give someone else permission to keep going?
  • Connectedness®: A quiet certainty that people, events, and ideas are linked. What bridge, if you built it, would bring two people or groups closer together?
  • Developer®: Sees potential in people before they see it in themselves. Who could you invest in so intentionally that they see their potential differently?
  • Empathy®: Senses what others feel and makes them feel genuinely understood.  Who is carrying something heavy right now, and how can you help them feel less alone?
  • Harmony®: Looks for consensus and the practical common ground that moves things forward. Where is conflict blocking something good, and what agreement can you help find?
  • Includer®: Notices who’s missing from the table and moves to bring them in. Who is outside the circle that belongs inside it?
  • Individualization®: Sees each person as a category of one and brings out their best. Who needs you to see them, not their role, this week?
  • Positivity®: Genuine, contagious enthusiasm that lightens any room. Where is hope running low, and how can your presence refill it?
  • Relator®: Builds deep, real relationships instead of collecting contacts. What relationship is worth investing more of yourself in this week?
