What Is The Strong Interest Inventory®?

The Strong Interest Inventory® assessment provides robust insight into a person’s interests, so you can help them to consider potential careers, their educational path and the world of work. It was built upon John Holland’s RIASEC theory of personality types. In 1974, Edward.K. Strong revised Holland’s theory to add an organizational structure from the Strong Vocational Interest Bank. Now, it helps people with explore their majors, career fields, occupations, job searching, career adjustments, & career development.

Holland’s theory articulates that people and work environments can be categorized into six types represented on a hexagon. Adjacent types have shared qualities in common, and directly across have very little in common.
